Fifth Of July

Reviews for Fifth Of July
Fifth Of July
Provincetown Theater
James Cerne as Ken gives an absolutely beautiful performance wry with vulnerability it brings a lump to the throat. He really is an emotional force. Sara Fitzpatrick as aspiring rock star Gwen provides torrents of comic relief in one of the best performances of her lengthy career on the Cape. And Nathaniel Hall Taylor as John nails the vibe and slither of his cocaine-fueled character.

Provincetown Theater
Costume designer Thom Markee has done an excellent job of imagining clothing that befits the time (when most fashion statements were pretty much mistakes) and the personalities; his work in particular with Wes’ stoner character and John’s alpha male persona are well done.

The ensemble at the Provincetown Theater keeps the fireworks sparkling. Jen Zee is endearing as Aunt Sally; Raea Ivey is a pouty young Shirley; and Madeline Barr grounds June with seriousness.
